Our Patriarc

Lee Raskin (Label/Dad) Z"L

It is with great sadness that we now announce the passing of our Patriarc, Rudolph Leon (Lee) Raskin. Dad left us on December 13, 2023, less than one year after mom. Dad was born July 15,1928 in Calgary, son of the late Aaron and Sarah Raskin. He was blessed with loving siblings, Bessie and Jack. After graduating University, dad moved from Calgary to Montreal to work for Quebec Telephone. In Montreal, he met mom, the love of his life, Roslyn Spiegel. Roz and Lee were married in September of 1955, and enjoyed a long and loving marriage of more than 67 years. Mom passed January of 2023, making 2023 a very tough year for all who knew and loved them both. Dad enjoyed a lengthy career in public service, in Ottawa, from 1960, first for DND and later DSS, where he attained the position of Deputy Director. Dad's expertise in communications related hardware drove much of his career with the Crown. His commitment to community service was also extensive; he was active in B'nai B'rith Canada, becoming a chapter president and later an internationally recognized Governor for Canadian B'nai B'rith. Fiercely loyal, supportive and loving to his family who will forever be grateful, "Label" inspired through his integrity, work ethic, wit and wisdom. He was always there to offer encouragement and support in all his family members' endeavours. Dad will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his children Ian, Brian(Lisa), and Steven, and his grandchildren Robbie (Melissa), Sammy, Adam, Casey, Cori, and Sebastian. Lee was predeceased by daughter Lori and grandson Noah.
